Tara Switenky manages the Strengthening Families Program (SFP), and Danielle Bear is the Caseworker for SFP families. SFP also employs a group of facilitators, elders, baby-sitters and peer mentors who are utilized for family programming.
What is the Strengthening Families Program?
Programs consist of 14 units, and are for caregivers and their child. There are programs designed for children ages 7-11 or youth ages 12-16. Both the caregiver and child/youth must attend together - this program requires partnership. All families who complete the program will receive a certificate. Every group is lead by a diverse team consisting of peers, elders and teachers.
What to expect from the program?
We provide a safe, inclusive space to welcome families, and offer transportation and meals for this program. This program is voluntary and there is no cost to participate. Families must complete an intake process before being accepted into the program. There are prizes and incentives for attendance. Transportation and meals are provided, and support for babysitting is possible.
